Greek for Grace or Undeserved Gifts. We all have them, learning to recognize them before it's too late, that's another story. Hopefully through this blog we can share what we have been graced with and share our stories about our "undeserved gifts."

Christmas Letter 2008

Dearest Family and Friends, December 2008

So… last year we were total slackers and didn’t get out a Christmas card or letter-for those of you that thought you had been forgotten, you weren’t! You are always in our thoughts!
However these last two years have been unbelievable! 2007 went by in what seems to be the blink of an eye and 2008 has not moved at a much slower pace!
Let us catch you up!!!

2007 brought us our newest family addition-Devynn Renee Clare Schramm (6lbs 4 ozs, 18 ¾ inches). As luck would have it she was born on Friday the 13th of July-via emergency C-section. Our baby spent 10 days in the NICU for a Group B Strep infection and finally got to come home to us on the 24th of July. We were truly blessed to have had so much help in those weeks that followed with our church family helping out with the kids and meals and with Karen (Jenni’s sister) coming out from Utah to help for 10 days. The visitors kept on coming after that and have only recently stopped…for now…

2008 rolled in and more changes came…
Jenni stopped doing in home daycare and went back to school in January to pursue her nursing degree, only one more pre-requisite class until clinicals, which will hopefully start spring 2010. She is also working part time on the postpartum floor and occasionally in NICU doing newborn screenings.

Todd changed companies going from commercial to residential pest control and went to a family owned business and is much happier with the management and hours.

Chase is doing very well. He continues to master his educational goals we set up for him and February will bring about another IEP meeting to set new goals. It’s hard to believe our little guy is turning nine in a couple of weeks!

Mia is just becoming such a great kid. She played soccer this year and loved it! She started Kindergarten and is doing so well academically-above expectations- in reading especially. She has lost her two bottom teeth and in typical 6-year-old fashion checks for loose teeth all the time now.

Kailee is our little firecracker! And has the red hair to go with it! She started pre-K this year (on her 4th birthday) and is the social butterfly of her class! She is working on writing her name and isn’t far off of mastering her letters and numbers.

Devynn-our little Deedee-is the sweetest little thing ever! We honestly don’t know what it is, maybe it’s cause she’s the baby but…she’s just a love and so curious about everything. Quite the little talker too-although we’re not really sure on the translation…

Billy has had a great year! He is a junior now and continues to do well academically and has been extremely involved at school, in sports and with youth group at church. This year he started the football season on JV but got moved up to Varsity when they’re team won their district championship and went to State quarterfinals! We are so excited for next season when he will get to play under the Friday night lights of high school football in TX! He was also nominated to be a PAL(peer and leadership student) last year and after a long and detailed application and interview process was accepted into the program! He will continue that into next year. And last but definitely not least; in September Billy was baptized!!! We are so incredibly proud of him and all he has accomplished!

We have been incredibly blessed by the number of visitors we’ve had the last two years-both friends and family, even Jenni’s parents made it out this year! If you’re ever in the neighborhood please let us know! We’d love to have you visit with us! Please don’t mind the mess, the house, as always is a work in progress.

May you and your families have an incredibly blessed Holiday season and year full of love, peace, health and great joy!

With much love,

The Schramms

Summer Days....

It has been an extremely busy summer for us. And so as not to bore everyone with all the nitty gritty details, we will sum up....

May-
I started the first of 3 classes I enrolled in for the summer.
Kids got out of school.
My Dad was supposed to come out to TX but ended up getting admitted for congestive heart failure and had open heart surgery for a valve replacement.

June-
I went to CA for a visit with Devynn.
Got to my sisters on Wednesday night, relaxed most of Thursday, got evacuated because of the fire on Friday. Got back to the house Friday night, spent a lot of time catching up with the sisters Sat night and into the early hours of Sunday morning(4:30 AM).
Spent half of Sunday (Father's day) in CA with my Dad and then the rest on an airplane or in an airport.
My Dad went in for a second surgery to drain out excess fluid build up.

July-
BBQ'd on the 4th.
Celebrated Devynn's first birthday!
Had a girls night in for my birthday.
My mom got admitted to the hospital in the Philippines.

August-
Celebrated 10 years of marriage.
My mom got released from the hospital and flew to TX.
Football started-two a days, AKA he@% week.
Devynn started walking....

And the rest...it's still in the works!

Quarterly updates?

So it's been awhile-this seems to be an incredibly common thread! LOL! Just to sum up....Billy turned 17, Devynn turned 1-yes my baby is now a "toddler"- and Todd and I are celebrating 10 years tomorrow. Where does the time go??? I will be writing more as soon as my photos upload. It's never fun to post without photos! But for now, much love, we miss you all! The Schramm Clan

A Common Theme....

So it seems that these days I am super behind on blogging-BLAH! Oh well, 4 kids, daycare and school just doesn't allow much rec time. Anyway, just thought I would share some new pics of the kiddos. Devynn is 8 months old today-such a stinker. Oh and the girl in the photo with Billy is his girlfriend-Claire!

So very behind....

Okay so I am about a month behind on all the happenings-maybe more. Give me a break I have four kids now-LOL! I will start with one thing and keep posting till I catch up okay?
November was the Walk For Autism! We had a couple of friends join our family for the walk and we were able to raise over $300! Thank you to everyone who donated!
Here's some pics for you all! More on November happenings once I remember exactly what we did in what order!

I know I know.....

So...it's been a busy few weeks for us! October brings a whole bunch of birthdays and of course Halloween/Fall events at school and church. Where did we leave off?
October 11th we celebrated Baby John's 2nd birthday. For those of you who don't know-John is/was one of my childcare kiddos. I had been watching him since he was about 5 months old. October 11th was his 2nd birthday and also his last day here. His daddy got a great job about 3 hours away. It was honestly like losing one of my kids! We miss him and the girls ask about him all the time. We keep in touch with his parents and he has since started at a pre-school.
That weekend was also the weekend of Mia and Aidan's birthday party. We had a combo one since they would have ended up at each others parties with pretty much the same kiddos. We did it at a place called Radijazz and had a great time. Mia got a Hannah Montana cake and the kids ran themselves exhausted! Chase had a ton of fun jumping into the foam volcano with Uncle Billy!
That next week was the Fall Carnival at Mia's school and the kids got to play games, enjoy a petting zoo and ride some ponies. The lady who owns the ponies said we could go out anytime for Chase to do some hippotherapy-equine therapy for a really ridiculously low cost and bring the whole family! We plan on heading out there one of these Saturdays when t-ball is over. Yup-the girls started T-ball. They had fun the first few times and now they are pretty much over it.
The end of October brought us bronchial infections! Fun stuff. Even miss Devynn had it. She had to bave breathing treatments on a nebulizer but tolerated it very very well. We have missed out on a significant # of T-Ball games but the girls aren't too concerned with T-ball anyway.
Mia's b-day was on a Tuesday so she got to bring cupcakes to share at school and was so excited to tell everyone she is now officially 5!
Halloween was fun! We went to Fall Fest at our church again this year! Kailee was a puppy dog, Chase was Spiderman, Devynn was a jaguar, Billy went as a teenager (ya-I know) and Mia went as Hannah Montana-again! I actually got into the spirit of things this year and went as a fairy. Todd was a dog catcher and had Kailee on a leash!
Well, that's our October synopsis....November has already started out busy but more on that tomorrow-I think...
