Charis

Greek for Grace or Undeserved Gifts. We all have them, learning to recognize them before it's too late, that's another story. Hopefully through this blog we can share what we have been graced with and share our stories about our "undeserved gifts."

It's hot in here, It's hot in here, There must be a Dragon in the atmosphere!

Ah yes, the familiar chant of a IASAS. Okay so it's a little bit of a throwback to high school but hey that's what this is all about right? March 16-18 some of us old JIS "kids" got together in Austin for a mini-reunion. Some of us had seen each other as recently as a few months ago to some of us who hadn't seen each other in 14 years! Has it really been that long since high school? We had an amazing time catching up and no doubt we have left our mark on "The Ditch" (AKA El Arroyo) forever. I know that I had a great time even though my pregnant state precluded me from partaking in the libations that were on hand-much to my chargrin. However Todd managed to enjoy my sober state and kept up with the best of the JIS crowd. We ended our weekend on Sunday by literally holing up in the darkest corner of an "authentic" Irish pub! Hopefully everyone has recovered! Let's not wait as long to do this again!

It Makes a Difference....

Hi again. Found this earlier and I just love it!

The Starfish
An old man was walking along a beach
when he came upon a youth throwing starfish into the sea.
The man asked the youth why he was doing this.
The youth said, "If I don't throw them into the sea,
they will die in the sun."
The man said, "But there are millions of starfish and miles of beach;
you can't possibly save them all
What difference does it make?"
The youth looked at the starfish in his hand,
and, throwing it safely in the waves, he said,
"It makes a difference to this one."

Water Water Everywhere!!!

It's official-it's finally warming up here! We've had some beautiful weather that has been interupted by the occasional thunderstorm. While it hasn't been cold-wet and muddy is not all that fun.

We are outside most days now and loving every minute of it. The kids have been able to get in the pool a couple of times already! Yes-I said pool! It's been great. Chase wasn't as impressed since he tried it out a couple weeks ago and it was still really cold. He's a little shy to attempt it again but the sprinklers he was all for!!! The girls however ask to get in everyday-even when it's overcast and raining!

Hope you are all enjoying sunny weather too!

Is she really old enough????

So I spoke with the school district yesterday and it's official. Mia will begin pre-K at the elementary school in August! Doesn't seem like all that long ago that we were waiting and waiting and waiting for her arrival. And in the grand tradition of girls she arrived fashionably late-10 days late.
She has been waiting to be able to go to school and she will be going to a school which just opened this year. It is about 1 1/2 miles away. One of her best friends-Shaley-started Kindergarten there this year and Mia is so excited to be able to go to school with her. She will be attending the 1/2 day morning program 5 days a week.
Doesn't seem like she's old enough already does it?
